Ta da! New house.

Today I declare the house renovation, first phase, DONE! There are still a few things left but I am putting the furniture back and that’s it.

I shouldn’t complain. We started the Monday after Thanksgiving, November 27th. Today is February 10th. Eleven weeks. OK November 10th and thirteen weeks if we count refinishing the floors twice.

And here is what we did:

• Removed no-longer-white carpets
• Found white oak flooring throughout the old house
• Patched and refinished the oak floors
• Removed non-functional baseboard heaters throughout the house, except master suite
• Demoed the walls around the basement stairs
• Demoed wall between old kitchen and dining room
• Swapped location of the kitchen with the living room
• Rebuilt and flipped the direction of the basement stairs
• Moved the door between the basement and garage
• Added recessed lights to the new kitchen / old living room
• Reinforced and reinsulated floors of old kitchen / new living room
• Added LVL beam and post to support roof over old kitchen / new living room (that was previously not correctly supported)
• Added a cute window in the new kitchen
• Added a bifold patio door in the new living room
• New white oak floors in new living room (old kitchen was red oak while rest of house was white oak)
• Baseboard trim to match
• Paint!! BM🇨🇭☕️
