Starting with sleeves, modifying to make them in-the-round and recalculated!

Sleeve triangles stuck together for in-the-round sleeves.

One night each – sleeve triangle sets ready to join. Mini sleeve swatch finished blocking maybe the 21cm wrist isn’t too wide, maybe a 19cm wrist will be too narrow hmm.

Sleeve triangle sets were worked like this (triangle increases are only at the joined edge of triangles – this is the underarm seam – the other edge is worked straight):

  • CO 3
  • (row 1) Left triangle in first st, purl underarm seam st, right triangle in third st
  • (row 2) Knit
  • (row 3) (left triangle) Knit to last st of left triangle, m1r, k1; purl underarm seam st; (right triangle) k1, m1l, knit to end
  • (row 4) Knit
  • Repeat last 2 rows until 29 sts per triangle
  • (increase row, rs) Knit to 3 sts before underarm seam st, m1l, k2, m1r, k1; p1; k1, m1l, k2, m1r, knit to end (= 31sts)
  • Knit
  • Repeat rows 3 & 4 once more = 32 sts per triangle + 1 underarm seam st, 65 sts total

Sleeve 1 progress
Progress on sleeve 1 after joining in round.

Pressing on with 19cm sleeves, doing them one at a time. Moved arm shaping from CDD at top of arms as in pattern to bottom seam of sleeves because I didn’t like the curve on the top of the original sleeves, it made them look like bat wings. Joined one sleeve in round and knit about 3″ of sleeve from joining tonight.

Join in round:

  • Cut yarn, slip left triangle sts and underarm seam st to right needle
  • Rejoin yarn at right triangle, k1, m1l, knit to 1 st before end, k2tog last st of right triangle and first st of left triangle (center stitch), knit to 1 st before underarm seam, m1r, k1; p1 (underarm seam st, round end) = 32 sts per side + 1 center st + 1 underarm seam st, 66 sts total

Continue sleeve in-the-round:

  • (round 1) Purl around
  • (increase round, rs) K1, m1l, k2, m1r, knit to 1 st before center st, CDD, knit to 3 sts before underarm seam st, m1l, k2, m1r, k1, p1 (underarm seam)
  • (round 3) Purl around
  • (round 4, rs) K1, m1l, knit to 1 st before center st, CDD, knit to 1 st before underarm seam st, m1r, k1, p1 (underarm seam)
  • (round 5, ws) Purl around
  • Repeat rounds 4 & 5
  • Repeat increase round every 6th round, 17 times total = 48 sts per side + 1 center st + 1 underarm seam st, 98 sts total
  • Continue until measures 30.6 cm, then separate triangles for gussets
  • CO 1 at each edge and continue for 16 more rows
